How to use anaesthesia in adult goat

Image
Use of anesthesia in goats 1)For operations like dehorning ,castration and tattooing,Ketamine hydrochloride @2 to 6 ml dose depending upon size of goat may be given. 2)Xylazine and Ketamine hydrochloride combine together is a good anaesthesia for a period 50 to 85  minutes.Dose :xylazine(20 mg/ml)-0.22 mg per kg and ketamine HCl(100mg/ml)-1mg/kg. 3)Surgical  anaesthesia in adult goat may be produced by 650 mg of pentoparbital sodiun intravenously. The goat regains their feed in about 2 to 3 hours

Foamulating ration goat/goat feed

Image
Formulating rations for goat         The maximum dry matter intake must be considered when formulating rations. There is a considerable variation in ration between does, depending in size ,level of milk production quality of feed ingredients, particularly forages.Dry matter intake ranging from 3 to 4 percentage of body weight may be observed within the herd .The nutritional requirements of goat weighing 50 kg and a yielding 2 litres of milk with 4 percentage fat may be met by feeding 400 g of concentrate mixture and 5 kg berseem or lucerne or any equivalent fodder         The following management tips will be useful to increase production efficiency of lactating goats: 1)Groupup the does according to body weight and milk production. 2)Assess the dry matter intake. 3)Calculate the energy concentration in the ration.Include fat or protected fat to boost the energy for early lactation. 4)Check the dietary protein levels and ...

Eggs of poultry

Image
Eggs     The egg is a complex structure distinguished by having four very different main parts ;these are yolk, albumen, shell membranes, and shell.             The blastoderm is a small disc that contains the genetic code of the egg.The blastoderm lies on the surface of an almost spherical yolk.Yolk material is enclosed in a delicate elastic membrane.              Two chalazae are firmly attached on the surface of the yolk membrane. They are positioned either side of yolk. The chalazae are long twisted fibres. The other ends of the chalazae are interlaced with fibres in the albumen.Their purpose is to stabilise the position of the yolk and hold it near the geometric centre of the egg.                  The albumen surrounds the yolk and acts as a shock absorber also a supply of some nutrients. There are three layers of albumen.A liquid albumen surrounds the yolk.T...

Meat poultry/commercial

Commercial Methods of meat type poultry              Commercial breeding programmes exist for most speciesof meat line poultry. The breeding companies keep a large number of pure lines.Growth rate was very important in early days of breeding for meat line domestic fowl (broilers). Many companies then used mostly mass selection techniques to select future parents from their pure lines.Large flocks of pure line birds would be reared with only a few of the most superior individuals being selected. The success of these breeding programmes are relied on the use of a simple genetic theory and selection for a primary trait(body weight)where genetic variations has not been depleted.Large breeding companies have the facilities and computer technology to be able to use large populations where they can use intense selection pressures. However, today's broiler industry requires genetic progress on several other bird's characteristics as well as body weight.Characters s...
